Carodyl (Carprofen) - 25mg (60 Chewable Tablets)

What is Carodyl?
Carodyl (Carprofen) is a treatment to hep reduce the symptoms of canine arthritis in elderly dogs. Carodyl is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is sometimes used to decrease swelling and pain after medical procedures such as neutering or spaying. Carodyl can be prescribed on a short term basis or for daily relief from more chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, and varying joint deterioration. It may also be used to help reduce post-operative discomfort after surgical procedures.

How is Carodyl used?
Carodyl (Carprofen) dosage will be prescribed accordin to the body weight of your dog. A dosage around 4.4mg per kilogram (2mg per lb) is commonly prescribed. This can be taken in a single dose or divided into two seperate doses to be taken in the morning and the evening. Carodyl can be taken alone, or combined with your dogs food. If it is being taken to reduce post-operative discomfort it is usually administered 2 hours prior to surgery.

Adverse effects
Carodyl (Carprofen) can cause some unwanted side effects in your dog. If you notice any of the following, contact your vet as soon as possible.

• Stomach upset
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Tarry or dark stool
• Tiredness and weakness
• Loss of coordination
• Seizures and convulsions
• Gastritis or ulcer formation
• Paralysis (part or full)
• Scabs
• Itching
• Behavioral changes
• Liver malfunction
• Kidney damage
• Increased thirst
• Increased urination
• Loss of appetite
