What is Colifoam Rectal Foam?
Colifoam Rectal Foam containing the active ingredient hydrocortisone is considered a corticosteroid type of medication. The synthetic steroid has an anti-inflammatory effect directly on the rectum to treat itching, irritation, pain or swelling caused by hemorrhoids or other conditions. The medication can be used to treat certain intestinal and rectal problems such as ulcerative colitis, proctitis and proctosigmoiditis.

How is Colifoam Rectal Foam used?
Colifoam Rectal Form is usually applied topically 1 to 2 times daily for 2 to 3 weeks. Once the symptoms have stabilized and improved, your health care provider may reduce the usage to once every other day. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.

Prior to applying the foam, it is best to empty the bladder and bowels. Before use, shake the container well for at least 5 seconds and hold the medication upright. Hold the applicator with the nozzle downwards, insert the top of the canister of foam into the nozzle and press the canister top gently so the foam fills out the applicator. Stand with one leg raised on a chair or lie down and lift a leg and gently insert the applicator into your back passage. Push the plunger to empty the applicator to apply medication. Take the applicator apart and wash after each use.
