What is DICARIS 150?
Dicaris containing the active ingredient levamisole is considered an antineoplastic and immunomodulator type of medication. The medication works by interfering with the growth of cancer cells and slows their growth and spread in the body. The tablets are used in combination with chemotherapy in the treatment of colon cancer, melanoma and head or neck cancer. Some people may also use the drug to treat parasitic worm infections.
How is DICARIS 150 used?
Dicaris should be taken orally exactly as directed by a doctor. To prevent an upset stomach, the tablets should be taken with a full glass of water along with some food. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patientís condition and their response to the therapy. The doctor may request to have blood tests periodically to monitor progress and side effects of the medication. The 150mg tablets should be taken by adults.
Patients using Dicaris may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Loss of appetite
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Decreased bone marrow function or blood problems
- Mental or mood changes
- Mouth sores
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
DICARIS 150 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
