What is Doxacard?
Doxacard containing the active ingredient doxazosin is considered an alpha blocker type of medication. The medication can help relax the arteries and veins so blood can flow more easily through the body. It can also help relax the muscles in the prostate to treat difficult or painful urination and urinary frequency and urgency. The tablets can be used alone or along with other medication to treat hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Some people may also use it to help the body pass kidney stones.
How is Doxacard used?
Doxacard is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patientís response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms. The medication can be used to control hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia but cannot be used as a cure for the conditions.
