What is Entosec?
Entosec is used to treat infections by micro-organisms. These commonly cause diarrhea and stomach pain and affect travelling patients who have had contact with contaminated water or air-born transfer. The medication inhibits the organisms from reproducing and attacks the cell walls to eradicate the existing infection. Your health care provider may also prescribe this medication to treat other unlisted conditions.
How is Entosec used?
Entosec will typically be prescribed for approximately 1 week. The tablets are taken once per day at the dosage prescribed by your health care provider. Swallow the tablets whole without splitting, chewing, crushing, or dissolving. It can be taken with or without food but should to be washed down with a full glass of water. If you do not notice an improvement in your condition after several days of use, contact your health care provider for further instructions. This medication is not meant for long term use and could have unforeseen consequences if used for longer than the prescribed period.
Adverse effects
Entosec may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Mild skin rash or irritation
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Stomach discomfort
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Loss of appetite
Contact a doctor immediatly should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Entosec is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
