What is Famtrex-250?
Famtrex containing the active ingredient famciclovir is considered an antiviral type of medication. The medication works by slowing the growth and spread of certain viruses in the body so the immune system can fight off the infection. It can be used to treat conditions caused by the herpes virus such as cold sores, shingles and genital herpes. It can also help reduce the number of future genital herpes outbreaks. The tablets can be used to treat and prevent herpes infections but cannot be used as a cure for the virus.
How is Famtrex-250 used?
Famtrex is usually taken orally 2 to 3 times per day, at the first sign of an outbreak or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with some water.
