What is Livercol?
If you have been diagnosed with hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), Livercol can be taken to reduce the levels of bad cholesterol in the blood. It is important that rosuvastain is taken along with lifestyle improvements - improved diet, weight management, and regular exercise.

Rosuvastatin reduces the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase (an enzyme that creates cholesterol in the liver). It also helps with the uptake and breakdown of cholesterol in the blood. Rosuvastatin reduces total cholesterol and LDL (the bad cholesterol that increases risk of heart disease).

How is Livercol used?
Rosuvastatin works best when it is accompanied by a healthy lifestyle. Healthy eating, regular exercise and weight management will all help to reduce cholesterol.

Livercol will be prescribed at a daily dosage. This dosage will vary from person to person. Tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Your doctor may increase your dosage after checking cholesterol levels by blood tests.

Adverse effects
When you first take Livercol, mile and temporary side effects such as nausea and vomitting can occur. It may also change your slepeping patterns and in some cases can lead to insomnia. Planning when to take you r medicine can help. Taking it on a full stomach can help with the nausea and vomitting, while taking it earlier in the day can help with your sleeping. Other side effects you may notice can include fatigue, headaches, and irritability.

There are other potential side effects that are more serious. If you notice changes in the color of your urine or if your skin begins to yellow, it is possible that rosuvastatin is causing some liver problems. If you experience memory loss and confusion, this can suggest that you are on too high a dosage. In either of these cases, contact your doctor as soon as you can.

Warnings
People with a history of liver or kidney problems, should not take Livercol as it can make these conditions worse.

Do not drink alcohol while taking Rosuvastatin.

Pregnant women, breast-feeding women or women who are trying to become pregnant should speak to their doctor about an alternative cholesterol treatment, as rosuvastatin may not be suitable.
