What is Methimez?

The medication is used to treat an overactive thyroid (Hyperthyroidism) and before thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatments.
How is Methimez used?
Methimez should only be taken as directed by a doctor, usually once every 8 hours. The medication can be taken with or without food along with a glass of water but should be taken the same way every time. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patientís response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping the medication may cause the symptoms to return.
