What is Neotigason?
Neotigason containing the active ingredients acitretin is known as a retinoid, a class of medication similar to vitamin A. It works by inhibiting excessive cell growth and a thickening of skin cells due to the deposition of a protein within them. The medication can be used alone or with other treatments to treat conditions caused by severe psoriasis such as red, scaly or thickened skin.

How is Neotigason used?
Neotigason is usually taken once per day or as directed by a doctor. The capsules should be taken with the main meal of the day along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Patients are usually started on a low dose and gradually increased to correct dosage. Do not discontinue the medication thinking it is not working as it may take up to 2 to 3 months before the full effects of the medication are felt.

  • Dry eyes or mouth
  • Itching, scaling or sticky feeling on skin

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Neotigason is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
