What is Ospamox?
Ospamox is a penicillin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, such as ear infections, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and bladder infections. It is proven to fight the infections and alleviate the symptoms associated by stopping the growth of bacteria which is responsible for causing these infections. It should be noted that this medication is not suitable for treating viral infections, such as influenza or the common cold.
How is Ospamox used?
Ospamox should be taken only as directed by your health care provider. It is usually taken every 8 to 12 hours, and can be taken with or without food. The exact dosage varies depending on the severity of the condition and the patient’s response to treatment. Continue to take this medication until the prescribed course of medication has been completed even if symptoms appear to have disappeared, as infections can relapse if not totally eliminated.
Adverse effects
If you notice any of the following rare but serious side effects, you should consult your health care provider immediately:
- Dark urine
- Persistent vomiting
- Yellowing of the eyes or skin
- Severe blistering of the skin
- Abdominal pains
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Ospamox is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
