What is Posmeal MD?
Posmeal MD (Voglibose) is an alpha-glycosidase inhibitor, which is used to reduce postprandial blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Posmeal MD (Voglibose) suppresses glucose absorption, decreasing the risks of macrovascular complications. Postprandial hyperglycemia is related to the first phase of insulin secretion. Alpha-glycosidase inhibitors suppress glucose absorption in the intestines, preventing the increase in postprandial glucose level. This class of medications comprises three substances: Acarbose, Miglitol, and Voglibose. Voglibose is the most recently developed medication in this class. Potentially, Voglibose may cause more side effects that Acarbose and Miglitol, but it is also more effective. A number of studies have been conducted to back up Voglibose use for postprandial hyperglycemia. The studies have also shown that postprandial hyperglycemia is the marker of diabetes-related cardiovascular disorders.
