Zinetac works by reducing the amount of acid being produced by the stomach. It can be used to treat conditions where the stomach produces excessive amounts of acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and conditions caused by a backward flow of stomach acid into the esophagus causing heartburn called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Some people may also use the tablets to treat stomach ulcers and ulcers to the upper part of the intestine.
