What is Tenelia?
Tenelia containing the active ingredient teneligliptin hydrobromide hydreate belongs to a class of medications called dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) inhibitors. The medication is a new class of antidiabetic medication used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes when patients do not show sufficient improvement achieved through diet control, a proper exercise program and the use of other medications. The drug works by increasing insulin release and suppressing glucagen release to lower blood glucose levels.
How is Tenelia used?
Tenelia is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The maximum recommended dosage is 40mg within a 24 hour period.
Adverse effects
Patients taking Tenelia may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Constipation
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Hypoglycemia
- Eczema
- Dermatitis
- Tremors
- Cold sweat
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Tenelia is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
