Ceff (Cephalexin Monohydrate) - 250mg (10 Capsules)
Brand Name: Ceff
Generic Name: Cephalexin Monohydrate
Form: Capsules
Manufacturer: Lupin Ltd.

What is Ceff?
Ceff containing the active ingredient cephalexin monohydrate belongs to a class of medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. The medication works by interfering with bacteria's cell wall formation, causing it to rupture and killing the bacteria causing infections. The capsules can be used to help treat bacterial infections to the upper respiratory tract, urinary tract, ears, skin and the bones or joints. Some people with certain heart conditions may also use it before dental procedures to prevent serious infections of the heart.

How is Ceff used?
Ceff is usually taken orally every 6 to 12 hours or as directed by a doctor. The capsules can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the therapy. Continue to take the medication until the fully prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms have healed, as abruptly discontinuing the medication may cause a relapse in the condition and causing the bacteria to become immune to the antibiotics.

Adverse effects
Patients using Ceff may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Upset stomach
  • Headaches
  • Oral thrush or yeast infection

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:

  • Trouble breathing or swallowing
  • Seizures
  • Jaundice
  • Easy bleeding or bruising
  • Decreased urination
  • Mental or mood changes
  • Joint pain

Warnings
The medication should be used to treat bacterial infections but should not be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Ceff is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.

The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed.
