What is Climara-100?
Climara containing the active ingredient estradiol is in a class of medications called estrogen hormones. It is used by women to treat certain symptoms of menopause such as vaginal dryness, burning or irritation and hot flashes caused by the body making less estrogen. Some women may also use the patches to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis (bone loss) or other ovarian disorders.
How is Climara-100 used?
Climara is usually applied topically once or twice per week or as directed by a doctor. To apply the medication, remove the protective liner and press the sticky side on the skin and press down for at least 10 seconds to ensure it is firmly attached to the skin. Some women wear the patch all the time, while others use it on a rotating schedule of alternating 3 weeks of the patch being worn and 1 week off the medication. Apply the patch to a clean and dry area of the skin on the stomach or buttocks, while alternating the spot within these skin areas each time you apply a new patch. Avoid applying to oily, irritated or damaged skin and any area on the breast. It is recommended to avoid applying the patch where it might be rubbed off by tight clothing.
