What is Daivonex Cream?
Daivonex Cream containing the active ingredient calcipotriol is a synthetic form of vitamin D, something essential for healthy skin. The cream works by slowing the growth and development of skin cells. The medication is mainly prescribed to treat psoriasis, a condition where red and scaly patches form on the skin due to an overproduction of skin cells on some areas of the body.

How is Daivonex Cream used?
Daivonex Cream is usually applied topically 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the medication, wash your hands and the affected area. Apply a thin layer of cream to the area to be treated and rub it into the skin until it disappears. Wash your hands unless they are part of the affected area. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting a doctor thinking the medication is not working as it may take between 2 to 8 weeks before the full effects of the cream is felt.

Adverse effects
Patients using Daivonex Cream may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

  • Aggravation of psoriasis
  • Irritation, stinging or burning at application site
  • Reddening of skin
  • Dry or peeling skin
  • Skin inflammation
  • Hair bumps
  • Thinning skin
  • Skin discoloration

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.

Warnings
Be careful not to get the cream on the face, in the mouth, eyes or vagina.

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Daivonex Cream is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.

The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed.
