Finpecia (Finasteride 1mg) is one of the world's most popular treatments for male hairloss. Taken daily, Finpecia will improve both the number of individual hair strands and the thickness of each hair. Finpecia works by inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase, and thereby reducing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Patients generally begin to notice improvement within 3-6 months.
Finpecia Dosage and Administration
Finpecia is specifically developed as a hair loss treatment at a dosage of 1mg daily. However you should check with your doctor to determine your starting dosage. Regular checkups will then allow this dosage to be changed as necessary. Most people respond well to a daily dosage of 1mg. If being used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) then the dosage is usually 5mg daily. Finasteride is also available in a 5mg tablet for such situations.
It may take a period of 3-6 months of treatment with finpecia before any noticeable changes occur on the scalp. This is usual and not a cause for concern.
Once hair regrowth is occuring it is important to continue with finpecia. Any regrowth occurring as a result of finpecia can be lost within a period of 12 months after ceasing treatment.
Finpecia Side Effects
Finpecia is usually very well tolerated. Some side effects you may experience include sexual effects (impotence, erectile dysfunction, low libido), headaches, testicular pain, breast tenderness. If any of these become troublesome contact your doctor. If you show any signs of allergy to finasteride you should cease treatment and see a doctor.
Finpecia is prescribed for men - it is not designed to be used by women. Pregnant women, breastfeeding women or women who are trying to become pregnant should also avoid skin contact with the tablets as there is a risk of uptake through the skin. If you have had any liver or prostate conditions in tha past, contact your doctor before starting finpecia. Also let your doctor know of any other medicines or supplements you are taking.
