What is Lipicard-160?
Lipicard containing the active ingredient fenofibrate belongs to a class of medications called fibrates. The medication works by increasing certain natural substances that break down fats in the blood and speed the natural processes that remove cholesterol from the body. It should be used along with a balanced diet, a proper exercise program and other lifestyle changes to help lower “bad” cholesterol or low density lipoprotein (LDL) and increase the amount of “good” cholesterol or high density lipoprotein (HDL) in the blood. Monitoring cholesterol levels can help decrease the risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries), heart disease, angina (chest pain), strokes and heart attacks.

How is Lipicard-160 used?
Lipicard is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not broken, split or crushed before consuming. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as most people with high cholesterol do not feel sick.
