What is Nicardia Retard?
Nicardia Retard containing the active ingredient nifedipine is considered a calcium channel blocker type of medication. The medication works by relaxing the blood vessels to ease the strain on the heart to pump blood and also increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. It can be used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and reduce the risks of heart attacks, strokes and kidney diseases. Some people may also use the drug to prevent and control angina (chest pain) and Raynaud's phenomenon.

How is Nicardia Retard used?
Nicardia Retard is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1 hour prior to or 2 hours after a meal. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not broken, chewed or crushed to prevent too much of the drug from being released at one time.

Adverse effects
Patients using Nicardia Retard may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
