What is Oxyspas 5?
Oxyspas 5 is an anticholinergic that relaxes the muscles and reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. It can be used to control urgent, frequent or uncontrolled urination in people with an overactive bladder, spina bifida or other conditions that affect muscles near the bladder. It can also be used to help children improve bladder control and help treat bedwetting.
How is Oxyspas 5 used?
Oxyspas 5 is usually taken orally with plenty of water 2 to 3 times daily. It may be taken with or without food. The usual dosage for patients above 5 years of age is 5mg per dose and for kids between the ages of 1 to 5 usually 0.2mg/kg per dose, 2 to 4 times daily. The dosage depends on the patientís condition and reaction to the medication, contact a doctor for the correct dosage.
Patients using Oxyspas 5 may encounter side effects such as:
- Dry mouth
- Dry eyes
- Blurry vision
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Abdominal pain
- Painful urination
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Oxyspas 5 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed.
