What is Optipres Eye Drops?
Optipres Eye Drops containing the active ingredient betaxolol is considered a beta blocker type of medication. The medication works by reducing the production of fluids in the eye to relieve pressure in the eye. It can be used to treat open angle glaucoma, a condition caused by increased pressure in the eye that can lead to gradual loss of vision. Some people may also use the eye drops to treat ocular hypertension.

How is Optipres Eye Drops used?
Optipres Eye Drops is usually used twice per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. To apply the medication, tilt the head upwards and pull the lower eyelid down to form a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over the affected eye and place one drop into the pouch. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place a finger at the inside corner of the eye and apply gentle pressure to prevent the medication from draining out. Repeat the process for each eye if so directed or if your dose is more than 1 drop.

Adverse effects
Patients using Optipres Eye Drops may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

  • Temporary discomfort or pain of the eye
  • Watery, dry or red eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Increased eye sensitivity to light
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Insomnia

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
