What is Pred Forte Eye Drops?
Pred Forte Eye Drops containing the active ingredient prednisolone acetate is considered a corticosteroid type of medication. It is used to treat eye conditions caused by injury or inflammation. The medication can relieve symptoms such as itching, redness and swelling of the eye by widening the blood vessels.

How is Pred Forte Eye Drops used?
Pred Forte Eye Drops should be dropped exactly as the doctor has prescribed. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the medication. Patients should remove any contact lenses and wash their hands before applying the medication. To apply the eye drop, tilt the head back, look upward and pull down on the lower eyelid to make a small pouch. Hold the dropper above the eye and place 1 drop into the pouch. Gently close the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes and apply gentle pressure to the inside corner of the eye with a finger to prevent the solution from draining out. Repeat the process for any additional doses required.

Adverse effects
Patients using Pred Forte Eye Drops may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

  • Stinging or burning of the eyes
  • Insomnia
  • Temporary blurred vision
  • Thinning of the cornea or sclera
  • Glaucoma
  • Cataracts

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.

Warnings
Patients should wait at least 10 to 15 minutes after each dose before putting contact lenses back in.

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Pred Forte Eye Drops is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.

The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed.
