What is Ziten?
Ziten (Teneligliptin) is a new type of diabetes medicine. It is used in conjuction with diet and exercise to treat type-2 diabetes in adults. Ziten is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor.

How is Ziten used?
Ziten is commonly prescribed at a starting dosage of 20mg per day, however your dosage needs may be different depending on the severity of diabetes. Your doctor will be able to determine a recommended dosage after performing routine blood tests. If glycemic control is not being achieved with 20mg per day, the dose can be increased up to a maximum dose of 40mg per day.

Adverse effects
The most common side effects of Ziten are hypoglycemia and constipation. It is well tolerated by most people.

If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction (such as a rash or difficulty breathing), notify your doctor right away.

Warnings
Teneligliptin has had a relatively small number of clinical trials as it is still a new drug being used mostly in Japan (where it was developed) and India. Some of the risks and side effects of Ziten may still be largely unknown. Check with your doctor if teneligliptin is a suitable drug for your condition.

Ziten (Teneligliptin) can increase the risk of a hypoglycemic reaction when it is used in conjuction with other antidiabetic drugs.

Risk of intestinal obstruction due to the mechanism of action of teneligliptin is possible. If you have history of intestinal obstruction or abdominal surgery, use teneligliptin with caution and seek medical supervision.
