What is Procto-Glyvenol?
Procto-Glyvenol contains the active ingredient lidocaine, a local anaesthetic and tribenoside, a glucofuranosides type of medication. The medication can give prompt relief for the unpleasant symptoms of hemorrhoids such as itching, tingling, swelling, pricking, skin tension and pain usually caused by a secondary inflammation of the anorectal area. The cream works by acting locally in the small blood vessels that is causing the inflammation to assist in the healing process and to quickly relieve the pain.

How is Procto-Glyvenol used?
Procto-Glyvenol is usually applied to the affected area 2 times per day, once in the morning and once in the evening. The dosage may change to once per day when symptoms decrease. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the cream, wash your hands and the affected area with water. Apply a small amount of the cream to the affected area and gently rub it in until it is completely absorbed.

Adverse effects
Procto-Glyvenol is generally very well tolerated but may cause side effects such as:

  • Burning sensation at application site
  • Dry skin
  • Redness of the skin

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Procto-Glyvenol is not always suitable for all patients.
