 | Manufacturer: | Astellas Pharma Ltd. |  What is Ridaura?Ridaura with the active ingredient auranofin is a gold compound that is classified as a disease modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD). It is often used in conjunction with other treatments to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It works by suppressing the excess activity of the immune system that causes inflammation of the joints. The medication should only be used if other treatments have been proven to be unsuccessful.
 How is Ridaura used? Ridaura should be taken by mouth usually 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but to prevent an upset stomach, it should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The maximum recommended dosage is 9mg per day. Keep using the medication even if the patient does not feel the effects of the treatment immediately as it may take up to 6 months for the full effects of the drug to be felt.

  Ridaura is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.  The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider.
